How to Use Our NYT Connections Hints
Not every player wants spoilers. That is why the reveals stay progressive. Use as little help as you need.
Quick hints
Want a quick Connections hint but not the full category. Tap SEE HINT. You get a short clue that points you toward the theme. Groups are color-coded from easy to hard, Yellow to Purple.
To see the groups
If you need the category title, tap SEE GROUP. That helps when you have two or three words that feel related but you are not sure what the shared theme is.
To find all the answers
Completely stuck. Tap SEE WORD for each tile in the group. That shows todays Connections answers for that color. We leave this for last so you can still solve as much as possible yourself.
What is Connections by The New York Times
NYT Connections is a daily word game a lot like Categories. You start with 16 words on a grid. Each group has four words that share a thread. Your job is to place them into the four categories without making four mistakes.
A mistake is when you submit the wrong four words. When you get a group right, the game shows which color you cleared. Clear the easy ones early so the board shrinks for Blue trivia and Purple wordplay.
Play Connections on the official New York Times Games site, then come back here for Connections game hints or Connections puzzle help when you need a hand.
The NYT Connections Colors
Each of the four groups has a color associated with it, and they each mean a slightly different thing.
Yellow
Simple or easy answer.
Green
Fairly easy to guess.
Blue
It is an unfamiliar answer or trivia.
Purple
The most difficult to guess.
Once you have made all your guesses, you can share your NYT Connections solution grid with your friends.
Connections Answers Today
Need Connections answers today or the Connections solution today. Use SEE WORD after you try the hints. Same goes for NYT Connections answers and Connections NYT answers. The reveals stay behind a tap so you control how much you see.
If you only want light Connections help, stay on SEE HINT and SEE GROUP. That is usually enough for Connections clues today without unlocking the full word list.
Tips and Strategies for Playing Connections
Scan for obvious pairs before you guess. Clear a Yellow or Green group early when you can. Blue often hides trivia like brands or niche themes. Purple loves fill in the blank phrases and oddball links.
If two words feel related but a third does not fit cleanly, pause. Red herrings are common. Getting an easy category out of the way first narrows the board for your next guess.
